Ingredients

Main ingredients

  • 2 frozen (sliced) bananas
  • 1 fresh ripe banana

Optional ingredients for different flavors

    Chocolate nice-cream

    • 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
    • 1/4 cup cacao nibs or chocolate chips

    Vanilla

    • 1 tsp Vanilla extract

    Fruit flavored

    • 1 cup Fresh or frozen fruit of your choice - berries, and frozen mango work the best.

    Salted Caramel

    • 3 Tbsp almond butter
    • 1/8 tsp coarse sea salt

    Mint chocolate chip

    • 1 Tbsp green spirulina
    • 1/2 cup chocolate chips or cocoa nibs
    • 10 drops mint essential oil

    Instructions

    • Place 2 frozen (sliced) bananas, plus 1 fresh banana in a blender.
    • Blend it until smooth. Add optional ingredients to create different flavors.
Chocolate - blend with cacao powder and then gently mix with cacao nibs or chocolate chips.
Fruit - add a choice of your fruit and blend; frozen mango is my favorite!
      Mint chocolate chip - add spirulina and mint essential oil (or mint extract) and blend; add cocoa nibs or chocolate chips and mix with a spatula;
Salted caramel - transfer the blended frozen banana to a container and, swirl in the almond butter, sprinkle a pinch of coarse sea salt on top.
    • Serve or freeze for later.

    Notes

Good kitchen hack - permanently keep frozen bananas in your freezer! Very ripe bananas are the best for freezing and using later for making ice cream, smoothies, or banana bread. Grab a bunch of overripened ones that are on sale, pill them off, and cut them into chunks. Store in the freezer in a (glass) container for up to 6 months.
