Amy

My name is Amy and I truly love working with children. I have spent the past 18 years raising my own three kids, working as a childcare provider, and sharing my love of reading and learning. I am passionate about early childhood literacy and lifelong learning. I recently returned to school and am working on my graduate degree in Library and Information Science, with the hope of becoming a children’s librarian in one of New York City’s public libraries.

My favorite part of nanny work is being able to share my love of reading with a previously reluctant reader. I have always been an avid reader and it is always exhilarating for me when a child I’m caring for finds comfort, joy, and excitement in a book! My proudest moment is always when I see reading become an integral part of a child’s everyday life.

I am also very good with children who experience separation anxiety.  Two of my own children suffered from this and I know how much compassion and understanding can help in these circumstances. I am excellent at encouraging a love of reading and at taking the time to explore, ask questions, and create. I love working on art projects and helping children write or illustrate their own books. I also very much enjoy cooking together - sometimes it gets messy but it's so much fun!

I'm looking forward to meeting all Project Date Night families!
